Hi, I’m Jamie Chen, the coordinator for Step With It®, Singapore! 2009.

I’m very proud to announce that since our launch in 2003, Step With It®, Singapore! has touched the lives of more than 250,000 Singaporeans from all walks of life. This is a meaningful programme which my company, Coca-Cola Singapore, has embarked on since 2003.

Many are surprised when I tell them Coca-Cola is behind a community programme to encourage kids to exercise! I’m proud to be part of this, and the reason we believe in this cause, is that from our point of view, it is important to educate students from young the facts about what a healthy lifestyle is! Food, drink, and lifestyle habits all play a part. You can have soft drinks in your diet – the key is to balance it with exercise! Coca-Cola has been with us for 123 years and the one thing that has changed over the years is the increasingly sedentary lifestyles we lead – with home entertainment systems, computers, and less time spent outdoors!

Health has always been on-going concern in Singapore and studies have shown that it is good to start kids on good habits at an early age. This means that schools are a great place to start this programme as teachers can provide guidance and supervision, while teaching the right concepts to having a balanced lifestyle. Schools which have participated in this programme have given us the thumbs-up and this encourages us endlessly, which is why we are running this for the 7th year.

We have all grown up with Coca-Cola, the world’s favourite drink, so isn’t it great to enjoy your favourite drink and stay healthy while doing so?
